I am going to be doing a couple of steep hikes in October and I would like to pick up some hiking poles.
Anyone have recommendations?
Hiking Pole Reccomendations
Re: Hiking Pole Reccomendations
I only use one pole, but I got a pair at Wal Mart for $10-$15 a few years ago and they've been with me for a few hundred miles. I can't say how they stack up to higher end poles. The ones I have have been great for me, though.
Re: Hiking Pole Reccomendations
I used a set of aluminum house-brand ones from REI for years. They eventually gave out and I replaced them with Black Diamond's finest carbon offering. If I had to get another pair, and didn't have access to a Black Diamond discount, I'd probably just do REI again as they're reputable and will replace gear due to failure. Here's a roundup for yah – https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/topics/c ... es/ratings

Thanks to both of you for the info.
I'm going to go through that list and see which ones best suit my needs!

I have a pair of Leki Super Makalu's that I have used for 20 years. I don't know what it takes to wear these poles out. You get what you pay for.
