Red Amphitheater Go-Around
January 2019 I spent a delightful day hiking from an abandoned stone quarry to the base of Schwaub Peak with a gorgeous view of Pyramid Peak and The Hole in the Wall. I'm still not sure if I actually completed the commonly noted roundish circular route found on National Geographic Death Valley Map but I sure enjoyed the solitude and open space. Those views into the Pyramid Peak drainage have me jonesing for an explore of that area. On the way back from the base of Schwaub (sp) Peak to the east was a butte that made me feel like I was back in the Grand Canyon. And I'm still not sure if that triangle stripped peak at the halfway point is actually Schwaub's south face or a false summit with the real peak hiding north and out of my view. It was cold and windy but the sun shone all day.
